Blue : Black (2022) is about the bodily and affective blueness of Blackness. It is a play on two epidermal phrases––the blue-black of bruised skin and dark pigmentation––and a reference to the interplay between dysphoria and euphoria. Blue : Black uses contrast and saturation to expose my racial-gender-sexual interior: my love of BDSM, the darkness of my skin, and my complicated relationship with gender identity-expression-perception.
